There is something mature beyond the years in this intersecting design of the eye. The colours and geometry hearken of Kandinsky, whereas the line quality invokes a deconstructed quality of Indian handicrafts. Intriguing and refreshing.
About the Artist:
Souradeep Chakraborty lives in Kolkata and is doing his Masters in Comparative Literature. Painting and drawing is his passion. He prefers to sit in his room and draw as he wishes to.
Currently he is working with a classical fusion band Rahaas and is planning to convert their music into his drawing. He has also been working with a group of artists (Aabra Ca Dabra) who performed on streets. He considers it to be a unique experience, as the connection between the performer and the viewer could be felt, which brings more life to the performance itself.
About the awarded art piece, he says “Master Dilated is the name of the character. The idea is to create something by juxtaposing different representation and moods of the eye.”
